Inheritance : Powers of Attorney and Living Wills

A Power of Attorney is a document whereby one person (the Donor) authorises another person, whom they trust, usually a family member (the Attorney), to act on their behalf.

The Donor gives the Attorney legal authority to handle their affairs, to a greater or lesser extent, if they are not able to do so.

This may be suitable and desirable if you become seriously ill, infirm or mentally incapacitated.

We will take all the necessary steps to ensure that all the documentation is properly prepared, signed and where necessary registered with the appropriate authority, i.e. the Public Guardianship Office.

We can also advise on and prepare a "Living Will", the popular name for what is in fact an Advance Directive as to what medical treatment should or should not be given in certain situations which may arise in the future, if the person involved is no longer able to indicate their agreement or otherwise to a proposed course in medical treatment.
